Gaming performance
This is a 20 mins video on various games and it's performance

http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjUyNjg3MTQ4.html

I should be able to finalize the warranty policy soon ( by the end of this month) and I can tell you now the price will be lower than the 10S on the 3G and the WIFI version.  We will see about that soon.

Playing Facebook game
1) I don't play faccebook game, so I don't know how good is this.
2) Zuma load but this does not work because the game not really design for PAD.
Enjoy

Post 2 has a Video link to a 30 mins Video on using T8

Here are the Video for the screen comparison

T2 ( Zpad logo ) Vs T8

T2 ( Zpad Logo ) Vs T2 ( Malata Logo)
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjUwMzIzOTYw.html

Here is the Malata T8:
CPU : Tegra T20
RAM : 1G DDR
ROM : 512 MB
STORAGE : 16 G
9.7", 1024 X 768 IPS, 2 points capacitive touch screen.
1.3 M front facing camera
WCDMA 3G modem
Light sensor and G sensor.
mIMG_5397.jpg

Unlike T2, T8 use Hardware switch for the HOME< RETURN and MENU key.
The key feels firm and solid, no rocking movement within the socket.
The design of the T8 is not the same as T2 as the metal frame now is exposed and the silver part you see is the metal frame which the IPS is mounted on.
mIMG_5398.jpg

This is the front facing 1.3 M camera
mIMG_5399.jpg

light sensor on the left hand side of the IPS panel
mIMG_5400.jpg

Here is the layout of the sockets, these sit on the right hand side of the machine near the HOME switch.  Form top to bottom
USB host, USB , Docking socket, earphone jack, microSD card slot and charging socket.
USB host give enough power to power on 2.5" external harddrive, so you don't need external power for it.
mIMG_5401.jpg

On the Top of the machine, you will see mic near the right side and  volume control is on the left of the machine.
Next to the Volume control is the physical G -sensor lock.
mIMG_5405.jpg

On the left hand side of the machine is the power switch and the reset button
mIMG_5406.jpg

Change of material used for the bottom of the machine, This is the rubber material like the Xoom.
It offers very good grip, but easily get dirty.
mIMG_5408.jpg

A) Workmanship and design
Compare to T2, there are major differences and improvement in term of design and workmanship.
1) The format has been changed to 4:3 from 16:9, even though the weight is about the same at 700g, it's easier to handle.  It's shorter and wider, this make the machine a bit more balance than the T2.  It's more comfortable to hold.
2) The workmanship is very good on both of my unit, all hardware switches feel firm and solid, seat nicely in it's socket.  As for durable of the plastic being used, this will only be told by time. If you really wanted to be picky, I can only complaint about gap between the tempered glass and the metal frame are not even on all 4 sides, and off by about 1mm.
3) The external socket and key layout seem to be reasonable, at least it's not like Xoom having all the socket on the bottom of the machine ( when the machine is in the landscape direction).
4) The internal layout has a major improvement compare to the T2.  Since these two units are not really for me, I am not going to take it apart.  If you wanted to see the inside of the machine, you can refer to this page :
http://www.ez-pad.net/android-3700-1-2.html
This time, all the Chips are RF sealed, cable layout seems to be more logical.
5) The rubber like material used for the bottom of the machine improvement the handle of the machine, but this will get dirty by the grease on your hand.

B) Screen
1) IPS screen - I don't think I need to explain this.  This is much better than T2.  My original T2 is using a 90 degree off normal cut TN panel, so the "negative film" effect is on the left hand short side of the machine, I thought it's really acceptable.  After using the T8 for playing some games and Reading some book and mag., My T2 does not look the same.  I will post a video comparison on My T2, a normal TN screen T2 and T8 soon.

2) Resolution - This rare resolution is not really a big issue for Application, here are some pictures
QQ截图未命名2.jpg
QQ截图未命名3.jpg
QQ截图未命名4.jpg
QQ截图未命名5.jpg
QQ截图未命名6.jpg

However, for game is a little bit different result:
a) Angry Bird - No problem
QQ截图未命名8.jpg
b) Fruit Ninja - a little bit deformed
QQ截图未命名7.jpg
c) Jewellust - a little bit deformed and overflow off the screen
QQ截图未命名9.jpg
d) Samurai II -overflow off the screen, look at the upper left hand corner
QQ截图未命名10.jpg
but game play is ok
QQ截图未命名11.jpg

Let's see if they can fix it in the future ROM update by limiting the scaling on the long side ( 1024 ), so that we would have a black bar on the short side ( 168 pixels total ), then it won't overflow the screen.

C ) Capacitive touch screen
I thought this was the same as my T2 but it's not.  It's a lot more responsive then T2.  I was talking to the dev. and they are saying that a new IC/circuit being used for T8.  This does make a different on how you control your Zpad.  The reaction make the T8 feels a lot snappier than T2.  Let's just hope they will have more points control in it's future product.

D ) USB host support
My 2.5" no brand mobile hard drive can run right off the machine without using external power, I cannot do that on my old T2.

E) Adding G-sensor lock and reset button.  They do listen to us....hahaha...

F) 3G performance
After posted WIFI analyzer yesterday, here is the 3G performance with China UNICOM service.
QQ截图未命名12.jpg

I think I will change my conclusion to this unit, I think it's better to get this than T2 even for gaming purpose.  The screen and the control make this alot better than T2.  I will release Video of the T8 and will update more on the ROM being used later on.

I uploaded a new Video ( about 30 mins ) to show the function of the T8 ROM, here is the link
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjUxMzc4ODQ0.html

T8 ROM
QQ截图未命名13.jpg

This is the latest ROM and it 's the same as the one on T2, and the best 2.2 ROM on current market.
Unless there is a killer Apps specifically for Android 3.0, I am not sure how important the update is.
currently, 3.0 's support on Tegra 20 is not as good as 2.2 and this can be reflected by the benchmark score.
1) This supports NTFS external storage
2) This supports CIFS network share
3) Automatic mounting of external storage device and acces by internal iFile explorer apps
4) VPN support
5) 2.5" portable device does not require external power, run straight from USB host
6) Fast touch response ( I went to Gome the last weekend to check out the Viewsonic 10s, The T8 UI touch response make the Viewsonic TNT UI a joke)
7) Currently, it does not play .mkv media file

I will work on another video about gaming later this week or next week.
Then if people are interested, I will apply for a group purchase, and it should be at a very reasonable price.
Right now, we are trying to solve the warranty issue and how should these be covered by the manufacturer.

The Malata T8 Finally got here, Here is the spec.
NV Tegra 2 1GHz
1G DDR RAM
512 MB ROM
16 G INNARD storage
9.7" IPS screen
2 points multitouch screen
1024 X 768 resolution
3G WCDMA

For this review, I will use three machine, my original T2 ( the first batch with Malata logo), a new T2 which I help someone to get ( with a Zpad logo ), and the T8.
Here are some pictures
1103102135076144eef29ca559.jpg
110310213565b6d7b5ee450029.jpg
11031021350577a8092d4fe651.jpg

I am going to update more in the next few days.
Here are the first impression
1) Workmanship is a lot better than my T2.
2) There is no complaint on the IPS screen, just plain beautiful.
1103102135f4f3002e22444938.jpg
1103102135bcea5331a90fd018.jpg
3) Not a great surprise ( other than the crazy list price....hahaha ), it's a good performer, but I am not as excited about it as when I had my T2.
4) Since the ROM is identical with the T2 ROM, performance is about the same.
Quadrant advance about 2500, after Data2loop about 3300.
Neoscore is at about 50fps
5) There are few people complaint about the WIFI performance, and here is the result
The T2 and T8 is about the same.  This is the WIFI analyzer app which you can download from Market.
This picture is showing T2 and T8 about 2 m from the router and in the same room
1103102135382e353e0d17546d.jpg
This picture is showing T2 and T8 at about 8 m away from the router, in another room through a narrow corridor, but still inline with the router.
1103102135fa403df60c4f660c.jpg
So, is there a WiFi issue? could be and here are the possible reasons:
1) Manufacturing problem, disconnected cable?
2) Defective component?
3) User Error?
Could be anyone of the above, but for sure, this got blow way out of proportion.
In fact, the person who brought the unit for RMB 2000, got a exchange unit from the store in GZ.
Hahaha.........so I guess this story tell us that you will have to be patient and polite in order to get help....
Anyway, Here are some issues

1) Android 3.0 ---- Currently, this unit ship with Android 2.2 only, manufacturer is working on the 3.0 kernel, but don't know when.  So, I would said at this point it has no 3.0.  However, if this does not have it, so does all the machine ( Woow, Viewsonic, NIA, Onky0....etc) based on this platform.  Is 3.0 important? Yes and No at this moment.  In term of Yes, it is important because this is the future.  In term of No, I don't think the UI on Xoom is getting a lot of fanfare.  3.0 is going to be important, but at this point, I am not sure how many Apps will be designed for 3.0 specifically.  For Example, the so call 2.3 and above only Samurai II Game has been mod for android 2.2 here http://www.ez-pad.net/android-3304-1-1.html

2) Resolution ---- This is more interesting. For Apps, this does not seems to be a big issue, I installed a few apps already and it runs without problem.  Game, however, is not 100% the same.  Because of the rare resolution, some of the games may not run ( I haven't found one yet, but I am sure there will be, most likely a 3D game ), I installed Angry bird, Jewellust, Fruit Nijia and Samurai II.  All of them run with a little bit different result.
Angry bird --- No problem at all, fit that resolution nicely.
Fruit Nijia --- Run, but a little bit deformed.
Jewellust --- Run, a little bit overflow off the screen.
Samurai II --- Run, a little bit overflow off the screen.
I think this can be solved by modifying the ROM in the future, but limiting the resize on the short edge only, i.e. there will be a black bar on the long edge.
If you use it more on surfing the web, using apps ( Quick office connect is beautiful ), reading ( comic, newspaper, magazine....etc), this is no problem for you at all and this is much better than T2.
If you mostly want to do games, then may be you will have to wait for the mod games for this resolution.

Conclusion:
For this list price, I would not buy it.... I don't even think any sane people would but you never know.
I don't think they will sell at this price when there is mass production unless Malata just wanted to kill this product.
I think it 's reasonable if this unit is selling at about HKD 3K for WIFI only and 3.4K for the 3G model.
For people who already have a T2, Viewsonic, NIA, Woow...etc, this may not be a attractive buy, because you only get the better screen, but the same stunning performance.
For people who does not have the above, now is more choice, T2 ot T8.

Finally, I have to say it again and again, THIS IS NOT A IPAD KILLER, if you want an IPAD, go buy an IPAD.  They are totally different.  If you really wanted to compare, this is closer to netbook and notebook.  perform better than netbook, and run longet than most notebook.
It finally got here this afternoon and here are some pictures.

我上星期四在廣州天河電腦城買了這台T8,
人仔3900買的,
玩了五天便2000人仔賣掉了,
這機wifi和3G的訊號非常差,
尤其wifi問題非常嚴重,
經常斷線和接收不到!
