i've had a similiar situation a while back with a DELL inspiron, i can tell you it's not really worth the effort....
you can't install bigger/different fans, you're stuck with those 8mm fans with a strange molded in structure that attaches to the case. the board pinouts to front panel LOOK the same but are rearranged, you can't tell (even via research online, i've done it for HOURS) which is which. if you have a new board, the case front panel wires have a single plastic 8-jumper mold that plugs in and wouldn't work, with a slight chance of frying something as well.
also, at the bottom of the board you need standoff screws to elevate the board from the case - those are set in, you can't change configuration and you can't take them out. with a new board you can't even secure it to the case properly, unless the standoff screw setup is exactly the same.... which they aren't.
in my Dell it uses a G33m02 (dell version) board, and i've compared it to the retail version of G33m02, and they have SIMILAR specs but difference physical placement.
it's a shame to have to tell you this but upgrading parts inside isn't really feasible. (this is also how HP/DELL etc keep their corporate business) |
