If your smartone plan is data only, they won't charge you extra on using it in Nexus... but you can not make any calls.

Does N1 detect the APN automatically ?
HTC usually pre-set the mobile setting of major networks, it will connect to the mobile setting by default, I doubted whether there is charges if you use it in different devices (APN for 3 > mobile : mobile.three.com.hk, netbook : ipc.three.com.hk)

Yes it auto detects your sim card

I find its just fine as I mainly use the predictive method. . This is a good android phone after all
