I got an Archos 70 IT (gen8. HD version) at a discount recently and updated it to the latest firmware 2.4.83 almost immediately.
I learned later that the stock firmware doesn't do wifi ad-hoc connections so I did some research. There seems to be 2 general approaches in getting this to work. The first method requires modifying /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and wilan.ini and the second method requires replacing the /system/bin/wpa_supplicant executable with a hacked one.
I have been trying both methods individually and in combination in the last week but couldn't get ad-hoc wifi to work. When I tried to turn-on wifi after applying the changes, I either get "error" or wifi is stuck between "on" and "off".
I have rooted my device with Archos' SDK.
Has anyone gotten ad-hoc wifi to work with 2.4.83? Could you please provide detailed instructions?
Many many thanks in advance! I think the device still got some potentials.
