Maybe you misunderstood me a bit, I don't need a very accurate monitor, I just need a monitor which is close enough to sRGB standard.

How about you start a topic like this? I am very interested?

At the moment I am interested in capturing emotion between kits and parents, and capturing cats.

what i meant is that going the full lengths in actively calibrating the monitor is only useful if you are able to manage the end to end process since your audience are not on calibrated machines.

infact for someone just starting i would advise against calibration as some audience might give inaccurate feedback regarding colors, contrast and wb.

This topic is something each person needs to find the solution themselves as each person is different and equipment is different and situation is different therefore opening it up for discussion online usually won't be overly meaningful therefore I encourage everyone that is pondering about this question to go out and try different things that suit their needs.

The first step into finding a solution is to not limit yourself on hearsay from others and also keeping in mind that photography isn't like math, there are many paths that can lead to an answer but the answer takes on a different form depending on your vision, need and ability.

Basically for something in that depth and detail it is hard to provide objective comments and feedback unless one is there.

btw I can read chinese just that I find typing english easier at most times unless I'm at home.

I also think that Harry Ching sometimes puts too much emphasis on technicalities - getting the "right" color, the "right" settings, the "right" composition, etc.

To me, photography is more about trial and error, and getting the "feel" of it along the way.

I see this quote in Harry's self-introduction:
The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it. - Ansel Adams

YOU are the one who decides what matters. There is no need to follow the model answers that other people give you.
