Me too have dual bodies to cater for different situations, but your combination is D700 and D3, not on the same level.   I have D3 and D3s to tackle my tasks.

i would take the same if there were two d3. d3 focus faster than d700 by a nose. d700,d3 combo i used on my trip to tibet, it was decent. 14-24 on d700, 80-200 on d3.
