I have played more than a dozen mkv files since I bought the machine. Btw, DTS files go with no sound at all. That is the only problem.

regarding the audio output of 698...  digital out is too low in volume compared with those RCA analog out, what a big inconvenience as I've to turn the volume down when swtich back to tuner or other source...

DTS output can only through the coaxial to the Amp.
