Sure. Brain drain is an issue. But we have to take a look at the context of different cases.
Jim Keller is prone to jump ship all the time. From DEC to AMD to PA Semi to Apple back to AMD.
Rogers has been with AMD (ATi) for more than 21 freaking years. He may want to look for more challenges.
Right. AMD does not have a lot of things on hands. That's true consider how much money they are losing and how small the company is. But, at the very least, it has a lot of x86/x64 IP, Graphic IP, Sea Micro IP. They can become a professional/semi custom market only company, only keeping the necessary staff and stay away from Intel and nVidia and continue to survive that way.
And one more thing, we all don't know AMD's exact roadmap. No one can say for sure. |
