Are you sure that is plastic?
If yes you may consider this:


It lasts many weeks and is very cheap.
Or you may consider a permanent coating for it.

Opti Seal will do a very good job in protecting and preserving those plastic trims.
However, it will not darker or moisturise those trim pieces.  i.e. OS will not change the way those stuff look.
It may not be what he is looking for.

Btw piggyman,

Opti Seal should work really well on windscreen.
I believe it was just you are unlucky (rain scale) and did not let it cure last time you tried.
