Normally yes ... if it was not "人為損壞".

The warranty does not apply to any of the followings:
- Defects or malfunctions caused by damage resulting from improper care, misuse or abuse of the product, or operation of the product contrary to the instructions contained in the owner's manual.

After checking OP's pic,  the chance of  "人為損壞" is there (subject to Nikon's final judgement).

I have had similar experience of a sigma zoom with the AF module broke down for unknown reason (with click sound inside, looks like something was loosen ).  The Sigma staff told me that if it was due to "人為損壞", I would have to pay for the repair cost.  Luckily, by courtesy of Sigma HK, it was repaired free of charge
