感謝HKEPC及Linksys提供這次試用Linksys WRT1200AC的機會。

把内容取出，可以看到火牛帶有不同國家用的插頭。

火牛是100-240V輸入，12V 3A輸出。

Router背面，從左到右是天綫1、WPS按鈕、LAN port × 4、WAN port、USB 3.0、USB兼eSATA、Reset、電源、開關、天綫2。

Router上面，從通氣孔看到裡面並不是太擠逼，也看到大塊的散熱片，應該沒有過熱的問題。

把電源接上，看看前面的LED。
從左到右是電源、WAN、2.4GHz Wi-Fi、5GHz Wi-Fi、eSATA、USB1、USB2、LAN1-LAN4、WPS。
Linksys下了一點功夫，Wi-Fi和LAN的LED形狀不同，離遠也看得清楚。

界面

WRT1200AC的登入畫面。界面統一使用藍色配合淺灰色。
右下可以看到語言選擇，可惜沒有中文可選。

現在的路由器功能越來越多，如果界面做得不好，會令人非常混亂。
Linksys的界面算是比較簡單易懂，左邊是大分類，進入後有小分頁設定各種功能。
我就把一些主要畫面說說，不說得太仔細了。

Network Map可以看到連接了的機器。

WRT1200AC除了正常的5GHz和2.4GHz Wi-Fi網絡以外，還可以在各頻提供Guest network。Guest network不使用WPA等加密功能，不過連接後需要用browser輸入密碼才可以連到互聯網。

Media Prioritization，就是QoS，可以讓某一些機器、應用程式、遊戲優先上網。

內置網速測試，使用了OOKLA (也就是<http://www.speedtest.net>) 的技術，同樣需要安裝了Adobe Flash Player才可使用，不過我找不到更改Server的方法，看到的是星加坡的Server的結果，所以不太理想。

外接儲存畫面，管理外接的USB硬碟等等。它也有DLNA server功能，把媒體檔案上傳到USB硬碟後就可以在有DLNA功能的影音機器等享用，不過不是支持的所有的格式。

右邊可以看到用PC打開它以SMB分享了的USB硬碟。這硬碟是在PC用了NTFS格式化的，WRT1200AC讀寫它都沒有問題。

設定Network的畫面。奇怪的是升級韌體也是在這個畫面。
右下可以看到控制機身LED表示的開關，不喜歡它們經常閃動的話可以把電源以外的LED全部關掉。

在這裡可以把路由器的設定備份到PC裡，可以用Release and Renew重新取得WAN的IP address，也可以把路由器回復到出廠時的狀態。

Wi-Fi的設定。原廠界面只有最基本的項目，不過對一般用家來說應該足夠了。

至於VPN功能，原廠只提供OpenVPN，而且只有Server功能。

對一般的用家來說，沒有Windows / Mac OS X / IOS / Android 內置的VPN如PPTP等，可能是不太方便，不過OpenVPN也有以上OS的client可下載使用 ，而且一般的意見是它比PPTP更安全。

由於WRT1200AC的其中一個賣點是它支持OpenWRT，所以我也試把它裝上OpenWRT。

的確給WRT1200AC安裝OpenWRT非常容易，跟升級原廠韌體一模一樣，只是上載的檔案不同而已。

OpenWRT的韌體檔可以在OpenWRT官網的WRT1200AC頁<http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1200ac>找到。

我跟著網頁的指示，安裝了Official CC snapshot release ，並加裝了luci網頁界面。

LuCI界面也不算醜陋，可是沒有原廠的那麼漂亮和簡潔。
同樣不說得那麼仔細了，只看看上面的菜單有什麼選擇吧。

Wi-Fi設定，比原廠多了Transmit Power的控制。

也比原廠多了Country Code的控制，不過不知實際影響有多大。

總括來說，OpenWRT的自由度比原廠大得多，例如就算只是用LuCI這個Web界面，也可以把WAN Zone整個刪掉再定義，對高級用家可說是非常自由，但一不小心的話也可以把設定搞到一塌糊塗，這方面可能不太適合一般用家。

可是OpenWRT也當然有它的好處，就算不自己compile程式，它也有大量的Package可以安裝，可以到<https://downloads.openwrt.org/sn ... u/generic/packages/>看看。例如原廠沒有的PPTP VPN或者OpenVPN client都可以透過package加上。

從OpenWRT還原原廠韌體跟安裝OpenWRT一樣容易，沒有特別的步驟，用OpenWRT本身的升級韌體功能上載原廠韌體檔案就行。

因為我家只有100Mbps的服務，Wi-Fi client最新的也只有11n的iPad mini 2，所以不能測試到WRT1200AC的最高功能。不過我也簡單試了一試它的速度。

3. LAN-WAN test

用兩部PC行iPerf 3.0.11來測試TCP速度。首先不經WRT1200AC，只經Switch連接兩部PC作為參考，然後經由WRT1200AC，Server的PC接WAN port，Client的PC接LAN port，作以下的四個測試。

- Client to Server (1 stream)
- Server to Client (1 stream)
- Client to Server (4 streams)
- Server to Client (4 streams)

為了省略篇幅，我省去了中間的輸出，只留下結果的部分。

4. File Sharing

簡單的從PC把SSD上的十多GB的單一檔案以explorer經過Gigabit LAN用SMB抄到接在WRT1200AC的USB硬碟上，再把檔案抄回PC的SSD上。

上下都能達到800Mbps以上，非常不錯。

總結一下，雖然WRT1200AC只有兩條天線，但是Wi-Fi速度一點都不差，個人感覺上它比我現在使用的三天線11n路由器的Wi-Fi更穩定、穿牆能力更高，看來幾年間各廠家作了不少優化。LAN-WAN的速度來說下載(WAN to LAN)沒有太大的減速，上載(LAN to WAN)則減速了一點，不知道是NAT的緣故還是測試方法的問題。這樣的性能對只有100Mbps上網服務的我家來說是足夠有餘了，對用1Gbps服務而主要下載的用家也其實沒有問題。

使用了幾天，WRT1200AC非常穩定，原廠firmware非常簡單易用，而想使用更多功能的話，支持OpenWRT的Router中WRT1200AC的硬件規格非常高，尤其是512MB RAM比一般的家用Router多得多，對有興趣購買Router的各位，它值得考慮。
