how much do you guys get your dvds for?

Average low is $85 or higher
$79 is considered cheap but CMC has had manufacturing errors on 三菱 discs before (even back in CD-R era)
So use these with caution

BTW are these +R (MCC004) or -R (MCC03RG20)?

What is CMC? I bought the MITSUBISHI Sakura DVD+R 4.7GB 16X 50P*2 cake box from a big shop in Wan Chai computer city:


What brand do you guys buy? Any that are made in Japan?

Which brand should I buy next time? Please recommend...

I don't live near SSP, so usually go Wan Chai only...

CMC Magnetics OEMs for 三菱 under licence
All 三菱 discs made in Taiwan are handled by CMC... using 三菱 dye formula and bearing 三菱 media codes, of course

No problem with that, most discs are good quality, except in cases when certain batches may go bad, which is not too common

BUT - multicoloured discs like what you've mentioned may have some problem, according to other members here
So stick to mono-colour ones whenever available

OTOH, MIJ 三菱 discs under Verbatim brand are actually 太陽誘電 OEM
Good quality also, but even TYG03 (-R discs in blue/orange packaging) is very hard to find now... many stores have run out of stock

Can you please recommend a good brand for DVD-R (for Data storage)?

I want to find one which is reliable & durable, which I can find in HK...

The only place I've ever spotted those TDKs is at shop B52
And yes they've run out of TYG03 in Verbatim flavour (orange/blue pkg, ~$110/50ct)

That said, if you want good DVD-R for primarily data storage, consider +R media also
Good example is YUDEN000T03 in Verbatim packaging (purple/blue, MIJ, ~$110/50ct)
This one is still available at shop B52

Alternatively you can consider MIT MCC004 (+R) which is around $85-90...
Probably cheaper if you get them during computer expo (around $76)

Yes, this is where you can get best deals on certain 三菱 DVDs, eg.
- 三菱-branded +R D9 (MKM003), in additional box packaging, $95
- Verbatim-branded +R D9 (MKM003), Jap label, inkjet compatible, $90
- Verbatim-branded +R D9 (MKM003), blue/purple label, $90
- Verbatim-branded -R D9 (MKM03RD30), Jap label, inkjet compatible, $90
- Verbatim-branded -R D9 (誘電OEM, TYG11), MIJ, $90

Note that TYG11 is not as good as original 三菱 cores, and may not yield good burn quality under certain conditions
All MKM*** cores are made in S'pore -- satisfaction guaranteed
All D9s are in 10ct spindle pack form
